Pune, April 7, 2026: The Encroachment and Unauthorized Construction Removal Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out a major demolition drive on Monday morning in the Aundh-Baner area, targeting illegal structures.

The action was conducted under the directives of the Municipal Commissioner and supervised by Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar along with Dr. Ramesh Shelar, Chief Security Officer and Assistant Head of the Encroachment Department. The operation began at 9:00 AM in locations including Abhiman Society, Sarja Hotel Lane, Reliance Fresh and a few areas in Kondhwa Budruk.

A team of officials from the construction and development department, including engineers and field staff, were present during the drive to ensure smooth execution of the operation.

During the drive, authorities successfully removed approximately 18,000 square feet of unauthorized temporary and permanent structures, marking a significant enforcement step against illegal construction in the city.

The operation was supported by five PMC police personnel, 25 MSF jawans, along with machinery including three JCBs, two gas cutters, two breakers, and a workforce of 40 laborers.
