Late Bapusaheb Kedari swimming pool in Wanowrie has been closed since December 2023 with no maintenance of the swimming pool. Hence, several Wanowrie citizens have requested the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to re-open the pool with all the necessary facilities in a well-maintained condition.

As per further information, the PMC had published a tender for the maintenance and repair of this dilapidated swimming pool in the month of December 2023. In the same month, a notice was pasted that the swimming pool was closed. Repair work has not started yet.

Hence, citizens & swimming lovers, who come to swim at the swimming pool, have given a request to the PMC. The request demanded that the swimming pool should be opened at the earliest which will be of the utmost convenience for swimmers & citizens.

Balasaheb Patil, in charge of PMC Wanowrie Ramtekdi Ward Office speaking exclusively to Pune Pulse said, “We will consult with the concerned departments & find a solution to re-open the pool with proper maintenance.”

In the year 1995, PMC started the Late Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool in Wanowrie for citizens. Citizens and women who come to swim say that the PMC has turned a blind eye toward the maintenance of the pool

Cracked tiles, an old filter system installed for the pool and leaking room, chemical storage room, dilapidated light meter room, dangerous switchboard, baby pool, broken bathroom doors, tiles, showers, open shower room water supply, and the toilet are unusable due to broken pipes, rusted sheets in the adjacent toilet which has not been replaced in the past several years.

Swimmers using the facility have demanded that the municipality should resolve the issues and provide better facilities.
