A malfunction in the tower line of Mahapareshan caused a disruption in power supply for about an hour in parts of Pune city. The trouble began when an internet cable accidentally touched Mahapareshan’s 220 KV high voltage transmission line at Anand Vihar in Dhayari around 1:53 pm on Thursday (28).

This incident led to the interruption of power supply to the 50 MVA power transformer at Nanded City 220 KV substation. To manage the electricity deficit of approximately 60 MW, Mahapareshan activated its Load Trimming Scheme (LTS). This scheme involved load management from multiple substations including Parvati 220 KV, Nanded City 220 KV, Kondhwa (Yevalwadi) 220 KV, Kothrud 132 KV, and NCL 132 KV. Consequently, power supply to various sub-stations of MSEDCL was halted, affecting approximately 309,000 customers in areas such as Vadgaon, Dhairi, Narhe, Kirkitwadi, Sinhagad road, Suncity road, Hingane, Padmavati, Marketyard, Katraj, Ambegaon, Dhankawadi, Juni Sangvi, Shitolenagar, Anandnagar, Erandwane, and Dahanukar Colony.

Immediate action was taken by MSEDCL’s engineers and technical staff to repair the fault in the high-voltage power line at Anand Vihar. Power restoration efforts were carried out in phases, and by 2:56 pm, the electricity supply was fully restored to all affected areas.

Efforts were underway to lay the internet cable at Anand Vihar, and unfortunately, it inadvertently caused the disruption in the power supply. Despite the inconvenience caused, prompt action and efficient teamwork ensured minimal disruption and timely restoration of electricity services to the affected customers.
