For over three months, the residents of VTP Alpine in Mhalunge, Pune, have been grappling with a concerning problem – their tap water runs yellow and emits a foul odor. The situation has escalated as reports emerge of white worms found in drinking water and red worms in domestic water sources.

This ordeal has not only caused frustration but also raised serious health concerns among approximately 200 affected families. Instances of skin infections, diarrhea, and food poisoning have been reported, prompting residents to seek urgent action from local authorities.

Despite efforts to address the issue through the society’s management and relevant authorities, including the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and local politicians, a lasting solution remains elusive. The builder, responsible for the maintenance of the relatively new construction, has shown insufficient cooperation, exacerbating the residents’ plight.

Attempts to resolve the matter by cleaning water tanks and pipes have proved futile, leaving residents disillusioned and questioning the efficacy of the current measures. The reliance on local water tankers further compounds the issue, with residents questioning why they continue to pay for monthly water maintenance when the water supplied is often sourced independently.

The persistence of this problem not only undermines the residents’ quality of life but also underscores broader issues of accountability and infrastructure maintenance. As the community continues to grapple with contaminated water, urgent intervention from authorities is imperative to safeguard public health and restore residents’ trust in their water supply system.

As we later spoke to one of the Facility In charge of VTP, they denied the allegations of the issue persisting for months and told us that it has been a few days instead. Additionally, they mentioned that it will be solved in 2-3 days.
