Due to the early onset of the monsoon, the Sinhagad Fort was closed for traffic from May 21–23 in order to repair the cracks in the ghat. The majority of the work was finished, but the Forest authorities say that finishing the job would require another month, and the decision to close the fort will only be made after consulting with the authorities.

The Public Works Department and the Forest Department are handling these projects. Although the ghat road has been thrown open, the cracks still need to be removed. On Friday, however, traffic was obstructed for a while.

To fill the hole, various materials are being delivered to the fort’s parking area. For the final three km, the route is narrow as a result and one side of the road is closed. In order to finish the work before the monsoon, the Sinhagad Ghat route will need to be closed once more. After consulting the authorities, the decision on this will be made soon.

As there is less crowd during the weekdays, the road will be blocked for three days, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to finish the work. We are still to figure out if the visitors will be able to use the ghat on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tourist access to Sinhagad Ghat Road will be available on May 25 and 26.
