In a vibrant celebration of valor, tradition, and harmony; residents of Suyog Nisarg Co-Operative Housing Society in Wagholi came together to commemorate the revered Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19th.

The day began with the inspirational songs recounting the valorous deeds of Shivaji Maharaj. It followed by the resonance of recital of “पाळणा” for बाल शिवराय that echoed through the air, evoking the spirit of the legendary warrior king. Following this, the atmosphere was charged with reverence as the idol of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was consecrated amidst hymns and mantras, symbolizing the essence of devotion and admiration for the great leader.
Engaging session delving into the illustrious history of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj unfolded, accompanied by the morning session culminated with a special speech by Shivashree Ganesh Bhau Sutar, offering insights into the extraordinary life and legacy of the revered king.

<strong>Palakhi procession, Cultural Events and Dhol-Tasha:</strong>
As dusk descended, the festivities took on a vibrant hue, with residents coming together to showcase their reverence through performances of “powada” and hymns, accompanied by a majestic palakhi procession of the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj idol, resonating with the rhythmic beats of Dhol-Tasha.

Highlighting the valor and martial prowess of Shivaji Maharaj, members of the Sahyadri Mardani Dandpatta Pratishthan from Karad presented the traditional martial arts of Maharashtra, known as “मर्दानी खेळ,” which includes a range of ancient weapons and combat techniques. The performances included demonstration of battlefield skills with Sword, Belt, Spear, Berchi, Katyar, Vita, Madu, Axe, gof, fire that mesmerized the audience and underscored the importance of preserving these rich cultural traditions. The group included girls and boys from seven years and onwards. Several skills like physical agility, intelligence, endurance, mental stability are learned through these martial arts.

The evening also featured an enlightening open-theater screening of documentary film; educating attendees about the life and enduring legacy of Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, reinforcing his timeless relevance and inspirational leadership.

Committee members distributed bags of compost to residents, generated by composting garden waste within the society premises. This gesture, consisting of ten bags, served as a symbolic token of gratitude to residents and event organizers for the successful culmination of the 10th year of celebrating Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at Suyog Nisarg.

As the festivities drew to a close, residents and participants came together to partake in a traditional dinner served on banana leaves, symbolizing the essence of communal harmony and shared heritage.

The event witnessed participation from residents – kids, ladies, gents, senior citizens, esteemed guests – Shree Yuvaraj Katake and members of the Yuvaraj Bhaiya Social Foundation along with event organizers and committee members.
The Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebration at Suyog Nisarg Co-Operative Housing Society stood as a testament to the enduring legacy of a great leader, the preservation of cultural traditions, and the commitment to sustainable practices within the community.
