Pune: In a unique tribute, the birthday of a 100-year-old banyan tree of Hadapsar which was shifted to Satara last year on 26 January was celebrated by the activists of Sahyadri Devrai organization.

The program was held at Satara Biodiversity Park on 26th January. Organized by Sahyadri Devrai and Satara Police, Satara residents and nature lovers were part of the programme.

It may be recalled that a year ago, Sahyadri Devrai succeeded in replanting the banyan tree of Hadapsar to Satara, which was about one hundred years old and was not in good condition. It took around ₹25,000 to replant the tree and this Banyan tree once again has started to get new leaves and branches.

Sayaji Shinde, the founder of Sahyadri Devrai Sanstha said, “We replanted the hundred-year-old tree using medical techniques. This Banyan tree was carried in a long truck to Satara and was taken to the Golibar ground, Mhasve and replanted. We gave life to an old tree, and it again started to grow new leaves and branches.”
