Over a love affair, a 14-year-old schoolboy in Pune’s Manerwadi neighbourhood was brutally murdered with a koyta (machete). Two schoolboys have been taken into custody by the Haveli police in relation to the incident.

Prakash Harisingh Rajput has been identified as the deceased. Anita Harisingh Rajput, his 35-year-old mother, lodged a complaint at the Haveli police station.

Prakash, a ninth-grader, came home in the afternoon on Monday, ate lunch, and then went to bed. Two boys attacked him with a machete while he was sleeping, seriously injuring him. After being hurried to the hospital by his neighbours, Prakash passed away from his wounds while receiving treatment.

The attackers were identified as two boys who lived next door to Prakash’s house and were from his school, according to the investigation. They initially provided evasive responses, but as they were questioned, they admitted to killing Prakash.

The attack was motivated by Prakash telling the next-door girl at their school not to make friends with the boys. This upset them, so they made plans to murder Prakash.

The inquiry also showed that Prakash was fatally stabbed while he was sound asleep.
