Pune : Vadgaon Sheri based software engineer loses Rs 27 Lakh to man met on dating app 

A 29-year-old Vadgaon Sheri software engineer availed a bank loan to give the man she met on a dating app, Rs 27 lakh; however, the man cheated her and ran away with the money. The incident happened from March to December last year.

The complainant, a native of Nagpur, lives in a rented apartment in the city and works for a well-known IT company in Kharadi, according to a senior Yerawada police officer. She met the man on a dating app. 

The victim reported that the man was claiming to be a software engineer from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. He gained her trust and made a marriage vow to her. He even travelled to Pune and spent several months residing with her. The accused told the victim at this point that he needed money to get over some family issues, the police officer continued.

 Hence, the techie gave the man Rs 27 lakh after obtaining a loan from a private bank. After receiving the money, the man fled and stopped answering her calls. The techie is in a dire financial situation and is still paying loan Equated Monthly Instalments (EMIs).
