Pune: Vijaystambh Event to Bring Temporary Traffic Changes in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Alternate Routes Announced
Residents and commuters traveling through Pimpri-Chinchwad should be prepared for temporary traffic diversions as the city gears up for the Vijaystambh Pernefata program. To manage the expected surge in vehicles and ensure public safety, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced special traffic arrangements along the Pune–Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) Highway and surrounding areas.
According to official orders issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil, these traffic regulations will remain in force from 10:00 a.m. on December 31, 2025, until midnight on January 1, 2026.

Private cars, jeeps, and other light vehicles belonging to attendees will not be allowed to enter these stretches.
Additionally, heavy and multi-axle vehicles traveling towards Alandi from Chakan Alandi Phata, Bharatmata Chowk, Moshi Chowk, and Panjarpol Chowk will face movement restrictions.
Diversions for Vehicles Coming from Mumbai

Or Waghjai Nagar – Birdawadi – Rohkal Phata – Pune–Nashik Road – Khed – Manchar – Narayangaon – Alephata
Private light vehicles will be diverted through Talegaon – Chakan – Khed – Shirur routes.

Additional Advisory for Private Vehicles:
During this period, private vehicles heading towards Lonikand are advised to use Alankapuram Chowk (Tapkir Chowk) or Charholi Phata as alternate routes, as heavy vehicles from the MIDC area are restricted from using attendee-designated roads.
Routes for Event Attendees
Buses from Nashik will reach Shikrapur parking via the Chakan route
Buses from Mumbai will use the Wadgaon Phata – Mhalunge – Chakan route
Light vehicles coming via the old Mumbai–Pune Highway will be diverted through Alandi Phata – Bharatmata Chowk – Moshi Chowk – Alandi – Markal – Tulapur, leading to Lonikand parking
Height Restrictions and Emergency Exemptions
Authorities have imposed height restrictions on select routes, allowing only vehicles below 8 feet in height that are carrying attendees. However, essential services such as ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, and police vehicles are fully exempt from these traffic restrictions.
DCP Vivek Patil has urged citizens, commuters, and transport operators to follow the alternate routes, avoid restricted roads, and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed across the region.
