Pune : Wakad Center Co-operative housing society switch to solar energy

Pune: The Wakad Center Co-Operative Housing Society in Pimpri Chinchwad area has taken a positive step towards environmental conservation and preservation. 

The society has installed an on-grid solar project that generates electricity, contributing towards sustainable energy production. The project is expected to save over Rs. 4,50,000 annually and reduce carbon emissions, demonstrating the society’s commitment to environmental conservation.

The on-grid solar project has a capacity of 25.7 kilowatts and is expected to generate 1,450 units annually. This translates to a monthly savings of approximately Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 40,000 and an annual savings of over Rs. 4,50,000. 

The society has also installed e-charging stations for electric vehicles, which were inaugurated by Chinchwad MLA Ashwini Jagtap.

Several notable personalities attended the inauguration ceremony. Other societies in the area have also recognized the Wakad Center Society’s efforts and have pledged to follow their lead in promoting social and environmental responsibility.

The solar project will power the society’s common areas, including its gardens, parking areas, streetlights, terrace, and club house. It will also provide electricity for the society’s public amenities, such as lifts, water pumps, and borewells. By utilizing renewable energy, society is taking a significant step towards reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainability.

Speaking in the inauguration ceremony Chairman, Sirshananda Panda lauded the wholeheartedly support and efforts of the members of the Waked Centre Housing Society for their incredibly successful solar energy project. The Wakad Centre Society is located near Bhukmar Chowk area of Wakad, Pune. Currently, the residents of the said society have been using solar energy to run things of common utility like water pumps for use and drinking, lifts, and common lights in the society. For this, Wakad Centre Society had solar panels installed, and through these panels, the society has been generating about 24 thousand kilowatts of energy. This has not only been sustainable for the environment but has also helped the residents save about Rs 50,000 per month.

The people of Wakad Centre Housing Society have been running things of common utility, like water supply pumps for drinking water, lifts, and lights, with solar energy only. Apart from Solar system, Wakad Centre of Society also inaugurated 2 nos. Electronic Vehicle charging stations for the benefit of the society residents.

As country is moving towards go-green initiative and devising sustainable solutions, these EV charging stations certainly help to contribute to a significant step towards achieving country goals of reducing carbon emissions. As a society our effort is to scale up the capacity to meet the national energy in demand socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable ways.

The event has helped to create a social awareness and drive necessary growth of solar energy and EV charging stations across community and Globe.
