Pune, April 20, 2026:
The Pune Municipal Corporation has announced a complete shutdown of water supply across the city for 24 hours on Thursday, April 23, due to urgent maintenance and repair work at multiple water infrastructure facilities.
According to the civic body’s water supply department, the disruption will begin at midnight on Wednesday (April 22) and continue until midnight on Thursday (April 23). Officials have also warned that water supply on Friday, April 24, is likely to resume late and with low pressure.
The shutdown is necessitated by critical repair and maintenance work at key water treatment plants, pumping stations, and storage tanks. Major facilities undergoing maintenance include the New Parvati Water Treatment Plant (500 MLD), Old Parvati Plant, Vadgaon Water Centre, Warje Water Centre, Cantonment Water Works, Rajiv Gandhi Pumping Station, Bhama Askhed Water Centre, and the Khadakwasla Jackwell.
Areas to Be Affected
A large number of localities across Pune will face water disruption:
- Parvati MLR Tank Areas: Guruwar Peth, Budhwar Peth, Bhavani Peth, Nana Peth, Ghorpade Peth, Mukundnagar, Parvati Darshan
- Parvati HLR Tank Areas: Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Bibwewadi, Gangadham, Maharshinagar, Kondhwa Khurd, Salisbury Park
- LLR Tank Areas: Deccan, Shivajinagar, Swargate and all central peth areas
- Vadgaon Water Centre Areas: Hingne, Anandnagar, Dhayari, Ambegaon, Katraj, Bharati Vidyapeeth area, Kondhwa Budruk
- Rajiv Gandhi Pumping Station Areas: Santosh Nagar, Balaji Nagar, Sukhsagar Nagar, Katraj Gaothan, Wonder City, Morebaug
- Cantonment Water Works Areas: Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, Mundhwa, Manjari, Koregaon Park, BT Kawade Road, Fursungi, Uruli Devachi
- Warje Water Centre Areas: Bavdhan, Pashan, Kothrud, Baner, Balewadi, Karvenagar, Shivane, Aundh, Bopodi, Khadki
- Bhama Askhed Water Supply Areas: Lohegaon, Viman Nagar, Vishrantwadi, Yerawada, Kharadi
Additionally, newly merged villages dependent on booster pumping systems will also experience disruption. Areas around Khadakwasla, Nanded, and Dhayari are expected to be impacted.
Civic Appeal
PMC has urged residents to store adequate water in advance and use it judiciously during the shutdown period.
Chief Engineer of the water supply department, Nandkishor Jagtap, stated that efforts will be made to complete the maintenance work on time and restore normal water supply as soon as possible.
Residents are advised to plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
