Maharashtra, April 20, 2026:
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rainfall across 24 districts in Maharashtra on April 21, warning of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and light to moderate showers in several regions.

The forecast indicates a significant change in weather conditions across Konkan, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. While the rainfall may bring partial relief from the ongoing heat, authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious due to the possibility of sudden weather changes.

Region-Wise Forecast

Konkan Region:
Districts including Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are likely to experience rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds. Coastal areas may witness increased wind speeds, prompting advisories for fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea. Cloudy skies and sudden showers are also expected.

North Maharashtra:
Districts such as Dhule, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, and Nashik may see thunderstorms developing post-afternoon. A slight dip in temperatures is anticipated, offering some respite from the heat.

Western Maharashtra:
Rain with thunder and lightning has been forecast for Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur. Gusty winds in certain areas could pose a risk to standing crops, and farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures.

Marathwada:
All districts, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv, are under a yellow alert. Thunderstorms with lightning may lead to incidents such as falling trees and power outages.

Vidarbha:
Rainfall is expected in Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Nagpur, and Yavatmal. However, districts like Wardha and Amravati will continue to face heatwave conditions, with temperatures likely to soar between 42°C and 44°C. Residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

No Official Alert but Changing Weather

Although no official alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai, and Nandurbar, these areas are expected to witness changing weather patterns, including light to moderate rainfall. Temperatures are likely to range between 22°C and 36°C, resulting in humid and unstable conditions.

The IMD has advised residents across Maharashtra to stay alert, especially during thunderstorms and lightning activity. Farmers, fishermen, and commuters are urged to take necessary precautions to minimize risks during this period of fluctuating weather conditions.
