PUNE: Pune city on Saturday received moderate intense rainfall. As per the data issued by the Indian Meteorological Department in the information said, “The huge cloud formation persists in Pune city and district. Lohegaon has reported approximately 4.5 cms and Chinchwad around 5 cms of rainfall within a 12-hour period.”

Based on these observed values, we have revised our forecast to moderate to isolated heavy rainfall in the city. This marks the first occurrence of such weather conditions this season. Heavy rains lashed city between 2 and 2.30 PM today afternoon. Shilpa Apte, Officer, Pune division of Indian Meteorological Department stated that rain occurred due to cyclonic wind conditions over South Madhya Maharashtra and adjacent areas and the tropical condition from Northeast Madhya Pradesh to Central Southwest Bihar. It is expected to rain very actively on September 24 and 25.

Water Discharge From Dams Today :

It has been observed that rainfall in the vicinity of the Mulshi dam is increasing. Consequently, a controlled discharge of 1,000 cusecs was initiated from the dam into the Mula River at 10 pm. on Saturday. As per the information received, Mulshi Dam has 98.75 percent of water storage. It is worth noting that, due to the Ganpati visarjan event, the discharge will commence during the night time rather than in the evening. It is imperative for the citizens to exercise vigilance.

As per the information provided, September 23 taking into account the rainfall projection in the catchment area of Varasgaon Dam, the total discharge released on Saturday at 6.00 p.m. amounted to 1,197 cusecs, which includes 600 cusecs through power plants and 1,194 cusecs through drains, resulting in a cumulative discharge of 1,794 cusecs.
