The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather updates as the Ganesh Festival starts. On Sunday, the IMD announced a yellow alert for the ghat sections in Pune and Raigad districts, warning of heavy rain in isolated areas.

Daytime temperatures in Shivajinagar and Lohegaon were slightly below average, at 27.9°C and 27.6°C, respectively. The IMD forecast predicts cloudy skies throughout the week. Rainfall in the ghat sections has decreased. In the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Sunday, Tamhini received 35mm of rain, while Lonavala recorded 6mm. Both stations had seen much higher rainfall in recent days.

Cyclonic storm ‘Asna’ over the northwest Arabian Sea moved south-southwest at 10 kmph on Sunday. Additionally, a depression over south Chhattisgarh and adjacent south Odisha moved west-northwest at 17 kmph. This system is expected to continue moving northwest and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours.

These weather systems have impacted the state’s weather conditions over the past 24 hours, according to an IMD official.
