Pune Weather Update: Koregaon Park Records Highest March Temperature At 41.3°C
Pune’s Koregaon Park registered the highest temperature of the season and March this year, soaring to 41.3°C on Tuesday. Shirur had recorded the same temperature on March 13. Lohegaon followed closely, recording 40.3°C on March 18, which was 4°C above normal.
The eastern parts of the city continue to experience extreme heat, with Lohegaon and Koregaon Park surpassing Wadgaon Sheri, which held the highest maximum temperature last year. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Wadgaon Sheri recorded 39.5°C, Hadapsar 39.8°C, Shivajinagar 38.7°C (2.4°C above normal), and Pashan 38.8°C.
While daytime temperatures remain high, Pune has seen a slight dip in nighttime temperatures, with the minimum recorded at 16.7°C on March 18, compared to 17-18°C earlier in the month.
Meteorologists attribute this slight relief to reduced anticyclonic circulation and increased moisture incursion, leading to cloudy skies in parts of the state, including Pune. IMD predicts a minor drop in temperature over the next 2-3 days.
Meanwhile, Bramhapuri in Vidarbha recorded Maharashtra’s highest temperature at 41.5°C, while Nashik reported the lowest at 15.4°C. IMD has issued a yellow alert for lightning and thunderstorms in parts of Vidarbha on March 21 and 22, forecasting light rain and storm activity in the coming days.
