Pune : Woman loses over Rs 87 lakh in investment fraud; Case filed against restaurant owner

A woman was cheated of Rs 87 lakh 47 thousand with the lure of giving partnership and shares if she invests in hotel business. A case has been registered against the owner of ‘Hotel Botanica Greenbar and Restaurant’ at Bund Garden Police Station.
As per further information from the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, the name of the accused is Sujan Sampat Kedare. A 32-year-old woman, residing on NIBM Road in Kondhwa has lodged a complaint in this matter.
The accused Sujan Kedare is the hotel owner of Botanica Greenbar and Restaurant. The complainant was introduced to the accused Kedare in the year 2021. At that time, Kedare had told about his hotel business & a company called ‘Peacemill Hospitality LLP’. The complainant was asked about investing in Botanica Greenbar and Restaurant & get 35% partnership shares.
The complainant agreed to invest. There were also meetings between them regarding this. The complainant invested Rs 87 lakh 47 thousand. From time to time, she credited this amount to the account of Sujan Kedare.
A partnership agreement was expected to be done after the investment. However, this agreement was not done. Meanwhile, ‘Botanica Greenbar & Restaurant’ was started in the Raja Bahadur Mill premises on Bund Garden Road. After that, she expected to get a return on investment. However, the accused did not give the complainant any kind of returns. Also, the principal amount was not refunded. After that, this hotel was shut down permanently.
As soon as the complainant realized that she had been cheated, she filed a case with the Bund Garden police. The accused Sujan Kedare is booked under Sections 406, 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is being conducted.
