In a proactive move to address various urban challenges, a volunteer group comprising influential figures from businesses, industries and startups has put forth a comprehensive action plan aimed at revitalising Pune’s cityscape. The initiative is called the Pune Platform for Collaborative Response (PPCR), where proposals by volunteers are being submitted to the civic body and other relevant authorities, urging prompt implementation.

The action plan encompasses a wide array of initiatives, including the imposition of stricter penalties for traffic violations, intensified cleanliness drives, crackdown on illegal hoardings and the installation of CCTV cameras in every police station, among other measures.

Spearheading the endeavour, Sudhir Mehta, the lead of PPCR, emphasised the urgency of swift corrective actions in light of recent incidents tarnishing Pune’s image. Mehta stressed that the city’s rapid revival hinges on the immediate adoption of the proposed measures.

Detailing the plan, Mehta highlighted the necessity of holding both perpetrators and recipients of illegal permissions accountable, advocating for enhanced transparency through the installation of cameras in police stations and the introduction of automated systems for filing FIRs.

Furthermore, addressing the pressing issue of illegal hoardings and encroachments, Mehta underscored the imperative for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to swiftly remove unauthorised structures. He called for stringent enforcement of city planning regulations via regular inspections and emphasised the importance of educating citizens about the adverse effects of encroachments.
