Bharat Nyay Yatra will begin from Manipur on January 14, as a follow-up of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and will be led by Rahul Gandhi, Congress announced on Wednesday, December 27.

As per information, the Yatra will conclude on March 20 in Mumbai, the Congress announced in a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on a yatra connecting the northeastern and western parts of the country with an eye on next year’s national elections.  Gandhi will begin his ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ on January 14, a 6,200-km tour from Manipur to Mumbai.

The yatra, ahead of the elections, is dubbed as the second and East-West phase of his north-south Bharat Jodo Yatra last year and was credited by the party for its election victories in two southern states.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will flag off the yatra at Imphal, on January 14. KC Venugopal said, the Bharat Nyay Yatra, will be mostly covered by bus along with short stretches of walking.

As a part of the Bharat Nyay Yatra, Gandhi is scheduled to cover 6,200 km and traverse through 14 states and 85 districts as against the 12 states, two Union territories, and 75 districts that he covered during the Bharat Jodo Yatra over five months.

Responding to the Congress announcement of its Nyaya Yatra, the Bharatiya Janata Party termed it ‘mere sloganeering’ and said it will not ‘fool’ people.

Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided justice to the people of India, who had faced all kinds of injustice during the Congress rule.
