Reviving Ram Nadi : Kirloskar Vasundhara and Rotary District 3131 take initiative for a sustainable future

Pune: Kirloskar Vasundhara and Rotary District 3131 have decided to work for the revival of Ram Nadi flowing through the Baner area. It was announced on Monday that they will work together for the next five years.

As per information shared by Virendra Chitrav, Director, Kirloskar Vasundhara and Ramadi Restoration Mission (RRM), the announcement was made at a joint press conference held by Kirloskar Vasundhara and Rotary District 3131 on Monday. On this occasion, Manju Phadke, District Governor of Rotary District 3131, RR Deshpande, Chairman Kirloskar Vasundhara, Anand Chitale, V.P. K.P.L., Dr Gurudas Nulkar, Curator Kirloskar Vasundhara, Virendra Chitrao, Festival Organizer Kirloskar Vasundhara, Santosh Pardeshi, Director of Rotary District 3131, Rajendra Kumar Saraf, Co-Director of Rotary District 3131, Keshav Tamhankar, Director of Green Society, Rotary District 3131 were present.

Kirloskar Vasundhara Ram River Rejuvenation Mission was started 4 years ago which was done with the noble objective of addressing the plight of the 19.2 km long Ramnadi, which was unknown to most Punekars. With the participation of 12 organizations working in the field of environment, 33 colleges, 25 schools on the banks of Ram river, workers of 3 companies of Kirloskar, hundreds of environmental experts and with the cooperation of popular media, the work of Ram river revival is in progress.

Rotary is a global charitable organization with environmental protection as its main objective. For that, ‘Supporting the Environment Venue’ is working globally on the issues of environment protection, resource-saving, climate change etc. It has been completed by undertaking innovative activities for the past few years. Rotary Province 3131 includes Pune and Raigad districts. Rotary District 3131 has 150 charter chapters with a membership of over 5000.

Vasundhara Swachhta Abhiyan, Ecological Society, Jivitnadi, Biospheres, Sagarmitra, Bhujal Abhiyan, Jaldevata Seva Abhiyan, Paradkar Foundation, Kirloskar Oil Engines, Kirloskar Pneumatic and Kirloskar Chillers are getting active support for this campaign.

What is this campaign all about?

  • Kirloskar Vasundhara and Rotary District 3131 will work together for the next 5 years with an aim to accelerate the Ram River revival. Through this campaign, we are going to pursue the following environmental complementary principles.
  • Study of the Ram River basin and development of the operational system for revitalization of the river.
  • To create awareness about the river among all stakeholders along the river and involve them in the river revival mission.
  • To develop a sustainable, environmentally complementary, toxic-free lifestyle among all residents of the river basin.
  • Restoring rivers and the lives that depend on them using public participation and technology.
  • To implement this activity by creating an environment-based culture, literacy, group and parliament.
  • This campaign is going to run based on the following 5 principles. Water literacy, water culture, water culture, water society, water parliament.
