Student groups at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) clashed with each other on Tuesday afternoon over a banner that the students’ association had put up on the campus. The banner read “Remember Babri, Death of Constitution,” referring to the mosque’s demolition in 1992.

According to the police, right-wing outfit members set the banner on fire.

According to Deccan Gymkhana police station officers, the incident happened on the FTII campus, which is situated on Pune’s Law College Road, at about 2:00 pm.

According to a Deccan Gymkhana police station officer, “Remember Babri, Death of Constitution,” was written on the banner. On Tuesday afternoon, a few individuals belonging to different right-wing groups broke into the FTII campus, removed the banner, and set it ablaze while yelling campaign slogans. At this point, a fight broke out between a group of FTII students and members of right-wing outfits.

A Deccan Gymkhana police station officer said that as soon as they received information, teams were dispatched. After the police took action, the situation was under control.

The police stated that certain individuals had been sent for medical examinations and that the results were still pending.
