Thursday evening turned devastating for a family returning from the Narayanpur temple when their car suddenly caught fire just a few kilometres after leaving the temple, ending what had been a peaceful pilgrimage in unimaginable tragedy.

The vehicle, carrying six people, burst into flames so quickly that none of the occupants could escape. The heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of Dattatray Dabhade (58), his wife Shanta (54), and their daughter Swati Santosh Nawalkar (37), all residents of Dhayari Phata.

Along with them was three-year-old Mokshita Hemkumar Reddy, the daughter of a close family friend, and the family’s driver Dhananjay Kumar Koli (30).

Residents in the area rushed toward the burning car when they saw the flames rising, but the intensity of the fire made it impossible to rescue anyone. Emergency services arrived promptly, yet the severity of the blaze had already left all five occupants dead.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the sudden fire, which remains unknown. Police have reminded motorists—especially those traveling late after temple visits—to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and to stay alert during long drives.
