Tragic : 5 year old drowns in water tank during Ganesh immersion procession in Moshi

Pune: Two persons, including a man in Gahunje and a child, aged 5 years in Moshi, drowned while trying to immerse the idols of Lord Ganesh on the last day of the Ganesh festival i.e. Anant Chaturdashi (September 28).

As per further information, a five-year-old boy died after falling from the lid of a partially open immersion tank in Moshi while the immersion procession was going on. This incident took place near a society at Borhadevasti in Moshi between eight and nine pm in the night. The five-year-old deceased has been identified as Arnav. He had gone with his parents to witness the immersion procession at Moshi. At this time many people were standing on the lid of the water tank and watching the procession. At this time, Arnav was also standing on the lid. His parents were engrossed in watching the procession. However, when they searched for him he was not found. Clueless they checked the CCTV footage, and it was seen that he was standing on the lid of the tank. So, it is suspected that he might have fallen into the water tank and died.

In another tragic incident near the Gahunje area, a man drowned in the Pawana River after attending the Ganesh idol immersion ritual. Several onlookers tried to save him, but the water level was too high for them to reach him. Local rescue teams and the police continued the search into the early hours of the morning, but they were unable to locate him.
