In Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district, a tragic collision between two trains led to the derailment of three coaches from the 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger train and caused the loss of six lives, with over 40 individuals sustaining injuries. The collision occurred between the 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger train and the 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger train.

According to the East Central Railway CPRO, the accident took place when a train en route from Vizianagaram to Raigad collided with another train traveling from Visakapatnam to Palasa, resulting in the derailment of several bogies. While the exact number of injuries is yet to be determined, the rescue and restoration efforts are actively underway, as confirmed by the railway official.

In response to the distressing incident, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy swiftly instructed the authorities to expedite relief measures. Immediate arrangements were ordered to dispatch ambulances from Visakhapatnam and nearby districts of Vizianagaram to aid those affected.

Moreover, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of efficient medical care for the injured and directed the railway authorities to collaborate with various government departments, including health, police, and revenue, to ensure the swift provision of essential relief services.

In support of the rescue operations, the Ministry of Railways has released helpline numbers to facilitate assistance and support for those affected by the tragic collision.
