Recently, a video came up on X where a little girl was pretending to be on a call while playing where she is seen condemning the act of cutting trees and questioning the effects of deforestation.

A recent post on X showcased a video in which a three year-old girl was pretending to be on an imaginary call where she can be heard complaining about trees being cut down, causing floods and damaging the environment. The video was shot by the little girl’s mother, who later posted it on her social media handle. It was later reposted by X user named Hema Chari Madabhushi.
The video has subtitles which show the little girl complaining to the government employees who are responsible for cutting down trees. She is showcasing her discontentment to the caller by asking them if they will come to their house and take it down as well. She then questions the caller by asking where they would live if their house is taken down. The 59-second video implies a lot more than what it shows. The little girl is asking a question that most people should be asking but prefer not to, and that is: is it really important to cut so many trees?

Her mom overheard her imaginary call complaining about tree felling, flooding and illegal construction threatening her home.

The little girl is seen talking about floods occurring due to deforestation. She exclaims about there being no point of cutting trees if it causes floods and destroys livelihoods. Towards the end of the video, a message is displayed saying, “What is holding you grown ups? It is time to call your representatives and tell them what really matters to you in these elections.” The video ends with the girl describing the importance of trees, as she says that trees provide us with shade, oxygen and protection from floods that can ruin houses.
The main message that X user Hema intends to spread through the video is that a three year-old child is much more thoughtful and woke as a citizen than the rest of the people. The kind of maturity and understanding that is shown by her is not something we expect from a three year old. This video is a message to all those who do not think about the issues that happen in our immediate environment and instead choose to ignore them. Healthy air, adequate water and forest cover should be the top priorities for a nation in order to provide the future generation a sustainable place to live. The video is being shared and reposted by many X users and has sparked a conversation that is necessary for the environment.
