A video showing a dance performance at the annual conference of the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India in Chennai has gone viral, stirring a heated debate on social media. The 58-second clip, which has garnered significant attention. The footage, shows a female dancer entertaining an audience of mostly male attendees. It also captures some of the men, drinks in hand, joining the dancer on stage, raising eyebrows about the event’s decorum.

The video was posted on social media platform X, where the user who shared it criticized the performance as inappropriate for a professional event. The user wrote, “This annual conference of the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India, held in Chennai from 19th to 21st September. What I want to know from @IMAIndiaOrg is this some kind of training in human anatomy? Old doctors grabbing a woman in public is what part of medicine practice?”

The post quickly sparked an online debate. Some netizens defended the performance, drawing parallels to Bollywood and other celebratory events where similar displays are common. They questioned why this instance was receiving backlash when such performances are widely accepted elsewhere. However, others expressed strong disapproval, calling the behavior “disgraceful” and “shameless,” especially in the context of a professional medical gathering.

One user said, “How can one have a problem with this but it’s totally ok when bollywood does it for millions to watch?”
