Vision Purandar-Haveli Model 2024: Sambhaji Zende’s Development Blueprint For Agriculture, Industry, and Water Management
Sambhaji Zende, IAS, is contesting the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections under the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) with an ambitious “Vision Purandar-Haveli Model 2024” plan. Zende’s blueprint prioritizes boosting industries, particularly low-water industries like IT in the Jejuri MIDC, alongside promoting agricultural processing industries through women’s self-help groups and group farming initiatives.
A key feature is the comprehensive water management strategy, including the Nala Link Project to provide clean water to farmers through efficient allocation. Plans are underway to repair leakage in the Umaji Naik Lake in Wadki and enhance storage capacity. Zende has committed to expediting the completion of the Gunjawani project to expand water access across Purandar’s villages.
To support agriculture, he aims to build cold storage facilities and improve market access, ensuring local crops like figs, custard apples, and peas can reach export markets. His agenda includes regular daytime power for farms and solar energy installations for agricultural pumps.
Zende also promises to implement Swaminathan Commission recommendations for farmers’ welfare and promote organic farming, ensuring that all government schemes reach farmers effectively.
