In a recent video (link) posted by a news agency on X showcased determination and civic responsibility as Ankit Soni, a resident of Nadiad, Gujarat, defied the odds by casting his vote using his feet at a local polling booth amidst the on-going elections.

The video starts off with a scene where indelible ink is being applied on Soni’s toe as he goes on to exercise his voting right. He is shown using his feet to vote as he goes towards the voting booth. He further states that he has been diligently giving votes for the last 15-20 years and urges every citizen to go and vote. Soni, who lost both his hands in a tragic electric shock accident two decades ago, arrived at the polling station to exercise his democratic right.
In the video we can see Soni reflecting on his journey and expressing gratitude for the support he received throughout his life, particularly from his teachers and mentors, who played a pivotal role in his educational and personal development. Despite facing immense challenges, he successfully pursued his education and attained a degree in Computer Science.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote, Soni issued a heartfelt appeal to fellow citizens, urging them to actively participate in the electoral process. He emphasised the importance of voting as a fundamental right and a cornerstone of democracy, urging individuals to seize the opportunity to make their voices heard.
One user Seema Akhawat commented, “ If this can’t inspire you to VOTE then nothing can. Salutes to this dedication for democracy.” The video is being lauded by many netizens and has garnered over 75 thousand views.
