Maharashtra, April 2, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued significant weather warnings across Maharashtra as unseasonal rainfall continues to impact large parts of the state. Over the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected, prompting authorities to alert farmers and residents to exercise caution.
According to the latest forecast, the IMD has placed 9 districts under an Orange Alert and 23 districts under a Yellow Alert for adverse weather conditions. Officials have urged farmers to take protective measures for crops that are currently in the harvest stage.
Heavy Rainfall Likely in Konkan Region
The Konkan division — including Mumbai, Sindhudurg, and Palghar — is expected to witness light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by warm temperatures. Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert has been issued for Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, where thunderstorms, lightning, and localized heavy showers could occur. Winds may reach speeds of 30–40 km/h in these areas.
Orange Alert for Pune; Rain Chances Across Western Maharashtra
In Western Maharashtra, Pune has been placed on an Orange Alert due to the likelihood of unseasonal rain with strong winds of 50–60 km/h. Kolhapur is forecasted to receive light showers. A Yellow Alert has also been declared for Sangli, Satara, and Solapur, with moderate rainfall and isolated hailstorm chances expected.
Northern Maharashtra Braces for Rain and Thunderstorms
North Maharashtra districts — including Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Ahilyanagar — are under an Orange Alert. The IMD predicts rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, with potential increase in wind intensity in certain areas. Residents are advised to remain cautious.
Marathwada Faces Continued Unseasonal Precipitation
In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Beed are on Orange Alert, with winds of 50–60 km/h expected. Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv have been issued a Yellow Alert as rainfall activity continues in the region.
Yellow Alert Across All Vidarbha Districts
All districts in Vidarbha have been placed under a Yellow Alert for unseasonal rainfall. Gusty winds of 40–50 km/h are forecast, and farmers are advised to safeguard standing crops and equipment.

With the unseasonal rainfall threat continuing on April 2, both farmers and the general public have been urged to take necessary precautions. Officials warn that localized flooding, water‑logging, and disruptions are possible in affected districts.
