Maharashtra, October 24, 2025: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh yellow alert for five districts of western Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Solapur, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds over the next four days.

Even as Diwali festivities continue, parts of the state are witnessing unseasonal showers, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The IMD has cautioned residents to stay alert and avoid outdoor activities during intense rainfall periods.

In Pune district, winds are expected to reach speeds of 40–50 kmph, with thunderstorms likely across ghat regions. Satara recorded 31°C and 5 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, with further rain and lightning predicted today.

Kolhapur received 12 mm of rain on Thursday, and another spell is expected with wind speeds of 30–40 kmph.

Solapur saw a high of 34.6°C on Thursday, while Sangli recorded 29.8°C and 4 mm of rainfall. Both districts are expected to experience moderate rain with thunder and lightning today.

The IMD forecasts continued cloudy and humid weather across western Maharashtra, with isolated showers across other parts of the state. 

Citizens are advised to remain cautious and follow safety advisories as rain intensity may persist over the coming days.
