Pune : WhatsApp, a widely used instant messaging platform globally, frequently introduces new features. While some of these features bring much-needed quality-of-life improvements, many of them add new functionalities to the application.

From sending high-definition photos to voice chats in groups similar to Discord, here are some of the latest WhatsApp features that can enhance user productivity and overall experience.

Earlier this month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the ability to share screens during video calls. With this new feature, users can easily share their screens with others, regardless of the platform they are using. This feature is particularly useful when one wants to display something on their screen without resorting to apps such as Google Meet, Zoom, Discord, or Skype. To share a screen on WhatsApp, initiate a video call with an individual or a group of people and tap on the ‘Share’ icon that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Once the app is granted permission to record the screen, it will be visible to all participants in the call. Unlike the group call feature that rings everyone in the group, the new ‘Voice chats’ feature sends a silent notification. Unlike ‘group calls,’ which require manual addition of members, the new feature allows users to join or leave the call at their convenience.

This feature is useful when one does not want to disturb others and wishes to have a conversation with group participants. Whenever someone initiates a ‘voice chat,’ the group icon will automatically change to a waveform icon and display a ‘Connect’ button.
