1500 cyclists participate in Rally Organised by Pune Police To Raise Awareness on Prevention of Addiction

Pune: Everyone needs to be aware to prevent the increasing cases of drug addiction in society, said Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar while speaking during the closing ceremony of a rally held on spreading awareness on addiction prevention organized on behalf of Pune City Police in Circle 4 Division. He further said that public awareness and enlightenment are necessary to tackle this issue.     

The rally was organized to raise public awareness among students as well as citizens by Muktangan Vyasan Mukti Sanstha and other social organizations. Essay, painting and slogan competitions were organized. The dangers of addiction were explained through various activities including street plays. Kumar also informed that large-scale activities will be implemented on behalf of Pune Police to deal with drug addiction crimes and other social issues.

Additional Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma informed that up to one lakh students of Pune city will be made aware of the menace of drug addiction. Shashikant Borate, Deputy Commissioner of Police introduced the program. Vivek Dev moderated the program. A vote of thanks was given by Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police. 

A bicycle rally was also organized on Sunday. The rally started at Aga Khan Palace and concluded at Police Headquarters in Shivaji Nagar. Around 1500 cyclists, along with members of Sunrise Cycling Group, Pune City police and Pune City Cycle Lovers group participated.

The youngest climber Sandeep Gaikwad (age 9) and Pratham Thakkar (age 10) along with the oldest Colonel Apte (age 80) were honoured by Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar for their participation in the cycle rally.
