PMC Removes BRTS Lanes On Nagar Road : Stretch Between Gunjan Theater and Hyatt Hotel To Widen

Pune: Commuters from Nagar Road in Vadgaon Sheri heaved a sigh of relief when on Saturday began removing the BRTS lane and widened the road from Gunjan Theater to Hyatt Hotel.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sunil Tingre, MLA Vadgaon Sheri said, “We have been fighting for the removal of BRT lane and widening of Nagar road for the last 14 years. A lot of requests, proposals and much more were done with the PMC, still, no further action was being taken. However, after a lot of protests and hunger strikes, the PMC finally listened to us and started the work of removing the BRT lane on Nagar Road on June 24. Earlier, due to the BRT lane, a lot of traffic congestion used to take place. However, with the road widening all the commuters can travel on Nagar road in a hassle-free manner.”
Vikas Dhakane, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PMC, said “The work of removing BRTS lane on Nagar road has begun. Currently, the iron railings of the lane structure have been removed which led to accidents, traffic bottlenecks and more. The entire work would be completed within a week’s time.”
Sanjay Dharav, Road Engineer, PMC, said “As of now, the removal of the iron railings has been done of the BRTS lane of Nagar Road. It will now prevent traffic bottlenecks & accidents & other mishaps. The removal of entire BRTS lane is to be done which will be done after receiving orders from the PMC.”
