Pune : Hinjawadi IT Engineer Falls Victim to Online Scammers, Loses Rs 49 Lakhs

Pune: An IT engineer from Hinjewadi was duped of Rs 49 lakh by online fraudsters by promising the victim of 30 percent returns on investment. The incident took place between March 28 and April 28. 

Snehasingh Hridaynarayan Singh, 35, a resident of Hinjewadi, filed a complaint at the Hinjewadi police station. Accordingly, a case has been registered against the accused. 

According to the police, the accused sent a link to the complainant on WhatsApp promising extra income by liking YouTube videos, initially she was paid Rs 150 and Rs 350 were paid to the complainant by the accused. The accused gained the trust of the victim and asked to invest money for further tasks and promised 30 percent returns on the invested amount. 

Accordingly, the complainant invested a total of Rs 49 lakh and the accused asked the complainant to complete three tasks for gaining 30 percent profit., Later, the accused denied giving any returns on the capital deposited and robbed the complainant of Rs 49 lakhs. 

A case has been registered under sections 419, IPC, and sections 33, c, and 66, d, of the IT Act. The Hinjewadi police were further investigating the case., 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code.
