Weather Alert For December 26: Cold Wave Persists Over Maharashtra, IMD Issues Advisory for Several Districts
A cold wave continues to grip Maharashtra, with temperatures dropping by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the past few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Weather conditions are expected to remain dry and cold across the state on December 26, with temperatures likely to stabilise after this period.
According to the IMD, most parts of Maharashtra will experience dry weather, with no rainfall forecast. Cold northerly winds are expected to cause a slight dip in minimum temperatures, leading to chilly mornings and evenings. The cold will be more intense in interior regions such as Vidarbha and Marathwada, while coastal Konkan will witness comparatively milder conditions.
In Mumbai and the Konkan region, the weather on December 26 will remain dry, with clear to partly cloudy skies. Mumbai’s maximum temperature is expected to hover between 30–32°C, while the minimum may settle around 18–20°C. Light morning fog may affect visibility in some areas.
Western Maharashtra, including Pune, is likely to experience colder nights, with minimum temperatures dropping to 10–12°C. Nashik and Ahilyanagar may see a sharper chill at night, prompting farmers to take precautions to protect crops.
Vidarbha is expected to feel the strongest impact, with minimum temperatures possibly falling to 8–12°C and cold wave conditions in isolated pockets. Residents, especially children and the elderly, have been advised to stay warm.
Overall, Maharashtra is set to experience clear winter weather, suitable for travel and outdoor activities, though motorists are advised to remain cautious due to fog and low temperatures.
