Bavdhan: Bavdhan Citizen Forum collecting discarded  thermocol from citizens has now came up with a new pilot project of compressing the thermocol.

The partner organisation of Bavdhan Citizen Forum ‘Sunfoams’ launched a pilot project in Bavdhan called ‘Recycle on Wheels’. This pilot project will crush the discarded thermocol and compress it into blocks. The vehicle can compress 1 kg thermocol in 1 minute,  saving time, energy, money and precious fuel.

Deepa Prabhu, director of Bavdhan Citizen Forum said, “The thermocol collection drive has been happening for the last three years. Every month, we go to 100 societies to collect the thermocol.  Volume of thermocol collected is more and the vehicle gets filled fast. The company which has been associated with us for the last three years, came up with this project.  On December 17, we had a pilot test to check how it works.”

Bavdhan Citizen Forum’s key initiative and dream project is to make Bavdhan, a  Zero Garbage Community. Under this initiative the BCF is partnering with various organizations to compost wet waste or upcycling/recycling clothes, e- waste, thermocol, etc.
