Cockroach in Meal on Vande Bharat Express Sparks Outrage and IRCTC Apology
A passenger on the Vande Bharat Express, traveling from Rani Kamlapati to Jabalpur, shared his traumatic experience of finding a dead cockroach in his meal.
The incident, which occurred on February 1, led the passenger to file an official complaint with the West Central Railway upon reaching Jabalpur.
The complaint gained attention after being shared on social media platform X.
The first picture shows the formal complaint that Dr Keshari made with the West Central Railway – Jabalpur.
In his complaint, he also mentioned the name of his co-passenger, Rajesh Shrivastava, as a witness. The remaining pictures show the dead cockroach in the non-vegetarian thali that he had ordered.
In response, IRCTC issued an apology to the passenger, expressing deep concern and revealing that a substantial penalty had been imposed on the responsible contractor.
The incident has sparked outrage, prompting calls for improved quality control and accountability in catering services on Indian trains.
Thanks for exposing the quality, never gonna order in railways from now,” expressed a user.
