Inter society badminton tournament between Leon Orbit and Gayatree Landmark 1 held

Last weekend saw an exciting inter society badminton tournament between Leon Orbit of Kokane Chowk and Gayatree Landmark 1 of Dange Chowk over 2 days.

It witnessed participation of over 60 players from both the societies in under 15, 15 to 42 and 43+ years category. In all 22 matches were played across men’s & women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles. Though Leon Orbit won the tournament by winning more matches overall, enthusiasm of players and members of  both the societies was a sight to see. Matches were held both at Leon Orbit and Gayatree Landmark 1 with the culmination ceremony and prize distribution being held at Gayatree Landmark 1. 

Prize distribution ceremony was graced by Padmashri Murlikant Petkar, who is India’s first paralympics gold medalist (1972). He shared experiences from his illustrious journey and guidance for youngsters.He still holds the World Record for 50m swimming in his category.

The event was conceptualized, anchored and managed by Vinod Khonde from Gayatree Landmark 1 and Rahul Bhandarwar from Leon Orbit.
