On February 5, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Parvati Police Station against Rafiur Irfan Ali Mondal & 2 more accused of extracting money from people with fake promises of giving employment. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) followed up on the case due to which the accused were apprehended.

As per further information from the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, the complainant was searching for a job. On February 2, 2024, she received a call for an interview for a data entry job. She was told to come for the interview on February 3 at Lotus Court, Besides Panchami Hotel, Pune-Satara Road, Swargate. However, the complainant told them that, due to some personal reasons, she wouldn’t be able to come on February 3 so she went for the interview on February 2 itself.

The FIR continues that when the complainant, accompanied to the interview location by her husband, went to Lotus Court, her profile was checked & she was asked to pay a processing fee of Rs 2,800 for the job. She did so after which she was informed that on February 5, she would get the joining letter from the company. Hence, on February 5, when she went to Lotus Court & asked for the joining letter, the director of the placement office of the company Rafiur Irfan Ali Mondal & 2 other persons did not give the joining letter & instead gave non-plausible answers. Then, when the complainant told them to return the money she had paid as a job processing fee, the accused tried to ignore it as well.

The FIR further says that when the complainant realized that they had taken & did not return the money (job processing fee) taken from other candidates as well, she realized that all of them had been duped. So, she registered an FIR at Parvati Police Station.

A spokesperson of BJP Pune said, “The woman president of BJP ward no 17 Shailaja Bhaskar Pathak had informed me that around 70 poor young persons had been duped by a company called Spin Sourz. Further, I got to know that around Rs 3000 each had been taken from them without giving any jobs. As this office is near Panchami Hotel on Satara Road, I informed about the matter to Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad of Parvati Police Station and requested him to immediately raid the office of that company. Realizing the seriousness of the incident, he immediately sent a police team and arrested the accused Rafiur Mondal, a resident of West Bengal.”

The spokesperson further said, “By then, I asked the general secretary of BJP’s Women Wing Priyanka Shendge Shinde to reach the Parvati police station immediately. By that time, the accused and the complainant had reached the police station. I also reached the police station and tried to calm the agitated people. Throughout the day, me, Shailaja Pathak and Priyanka Shendge Shinde were at the police station and took a stance not to move until a case is registered and the said accused is arrested.”

The spokesperson further said “Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad took the matter very seriously and started immediate action. It was learned that the said accused was working as a director of that company. Gaikwad said that the scope of this crime could be more and by taking immediate action, the said accused had been arrested. During this, the BJP Pune city president Dheeraj Ghate contacted from time to time and inquired about the incident. Special thanks must be given to Assistant Police Inspector Akshay Sarode, Assistant Police Inspector Kamble of Parvati Darshan Police Chowki who provided valuable support in all these operations and all the staff of Parvati Police Station.”
