Kolhapur's 'Eight-Foot Midnight Mystery Woman' Identified as Mentally Disturbed Resident from Pune, Not a Ghost, Police Confirm
The eight-foot mystery woman causing midnight mayhem in Kolhapur was no ghost, police confirm.
The streets of Kolhapur were abuzz with eerie tales after CCTV footage surfaced of a woman, reportedly around eight feet tall, wandering at midnight in the Saneguruji Vasahat, Kalamba, and Aptenagar areas. For over a month, locals were alarmed by the strange figure seen walking alone, wielding what appeared to be knives, axes, and a stick. Rumors spread rapidly, with many residents fearing the presence of a headless specter or supernatural entity.
The woman’s towering figure and mysterious attire, layers of clothing and a jacket over her head, only added to the chilling effect. Residents also reported hearing mysterious knocks on doors late at night, fueling anxieties and prompting people to avoid venturing out after dark.
The turning point came on Thursday when the woman allegedly snatched a young man’s mobile in Aptenagar and smashed it to the ground in a fit of anger. This incident spurred the young man to file a police complaint, which finally brought the situation under official scrutiny. Acting on this complaint, the Juna Rajwada police quickly initiated an investigation, examining the CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses. The investigation revealed that the woman, contrary to ghostly rumors, was actually a disturbed individual with mental health issues and originally from Pune.
Kolhapur’s local police are now working to locate her relatives, hoping to arrange appropriate support. While this incident has unsettled the community, authorities are using it as a reminder for residents to report unusual occurrences promptly and avoid relying on rumors.
