Maharashtra Assembly elections: Major jolt to NCP(Ajit Pawar faction) in Pune as 600 officials resign

Maharashtra Government Announces Guardian Ministers: Ajit Pawar Gets Pune and Beed Districts
In a major setback for Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), over 600 party workers and officials from the Pune city unit resigned on Tuesday. This protest comes in response to the denial of an MLC post to Pune City President Deepak Mankar, despite the party having been allotted three MLC seats from the Governor’s quota.
Supporters of Mankar gathered at the NCP office in Pune’s Narayan Peth area, expressing their disappointment in a meeting. The resignation includes key officials such as city vice presidents, assembly constituency chiefs, and various cell heads. They expressed frustration that Mankar, who they claim played a crucial role in strengthening the party in Pune, was overlooked in favor of nominees with family ties to politics. Instead, the party nominated Pankaj Bhujbal and Idris Naikwadi to the MLC seats.
A memorandum addressing Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated, “Our trust has been broken. We believed Ajit Pawar would provide justice to party workers.”
Datta Sagare, Vice President of NCP Pune City, confirmed the mass resignation and said the number could rise to 2,500 in the coming days. Though resigning from their posts, workers have pledged to stay within the party but will not support its alliance partners until Ajit Pawar provides assurance.
The mass resignation comes on the same day the Election Commission of India announced the Maharashtra Assembly elections for November 20, with results on November 23.
