Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde’s luggage was inspected by Election Commission officers in Panchavati, Nashik on Thursday.

On Thursday, May 16, Election Commission officers conducted a luggage check on Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Nashik’s Panchavati. Shinde was in Nashik to campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Upon his arrival at the city’s Nilgiri helipad, police spontaneously inspected both of his bags. Besides clothes, medicines, and essential items, nothing else was found. A video of the incident was shared on social media by news agency ANI.

Polling will be held on Monday, May 20 for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls to 13 constituencies which are going to polls are Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Kalyan, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central, and Mumbai South.

Of the 48 parliamentary seats in the state, the BJP is contesting on 28, the Shiv Sena on 15, the NCP on four and Rashtriya Samaj Paksha on one. The CM has maintained there were no differences within the Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, the Shiv Sena and the NCP led by Ajit Pawar, over sharing Lok Sabha seats for contest among allies.
