The Maharashtra Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMOCL) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) are jointly offering this discount to mark the occasion of Maharashtra Day. Senior citizens, students, and disabled persons will be able to avail of this offer for 45 or 60 trips using the Mumbai-1 pass.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the government has created the Mumbai Metro network with the needs and safety of senior citizens, students, and children in mind. He further added that the government had earlier provided free travel to senior citizens using ST buses and free travel to women on ST buses by giving a 50% discount. The decision to offer this discount was taken keeping in mind the social aspect of the scheme, and it is expected to encourage more people to travel by metro.

The Maharashtra government is keen to encourage more people to use public transport to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

The discount is expected to benefit a large number of commuters, and it is a welcome move for those who have been struggling with rising transportation costs. The scheme is expected to be a success, and the government hopes that it will encourage more people to use the Mumbai Metro network.
