The alert has been issued for Yavatmal, Wardha, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur in the Vidarbha region.
Despite the warning in these districts, most parts of the state are expected to continue experiencing hot and dry weather, with rising temperatures marking the beginning of May.

In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, weather conditions are likely to remain hot and humid. Coastal humidity is expected to intensify discomfort, with maximum temperatures ranging between 33°C and 35°C and minimum temperatures between 25°C and 28°C.
Western Maharashtra, covering Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur, is expected to witness predominantly dry weather. Daytime heat is likely to intensify with hot winds, pushing maximum temperatures between 38°C and 41°C, while minimum temperatures may range from 22°C to 26°C.
In North Maharashtra, including Nashik, Dhule, and Nandurbar, temperatures are expected to remain high, touching up to 40°C, with dry and hot conditions prevailing.
Marathwada region—comprising Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Jalna, Parbhani, Nanded, and Hingoli—will continue to experience intense heat. Maximum temperatures in the region may range between 39°C and 42°C, with largely dry weather conditions.
Vidarbha is expected to face the most severe heatwave conditions, particularly in Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, and Gondia. Temperatures may soar between 42°C and 44°C, with minimum temperatures around 26°C to 29°C. Alongside the heat, Yavatmal, Wardha, Gadchiroli, and Chandrapur are likely to witness rainfall under the yellow alert. Other districts like Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, and Washim will continue to experience intense heat.
Amid rising temperatures, the IMD has advised citizens to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours. Special precautions have been recommended for children, senior citizens, and farmers, including staying hydrated, using protective coverings, and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight.
The weather department has indicated that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in Vidarbha over the next few days.
