Power theft lands Ravet based builder in trouble

Ravi Khiluman Ochani, a builder based in Ravet was recently booked by Pimpri Chinchwad Police for power theft. A complaint was filed by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) against the Ravet-based builder for tampering the electricity meter and stealing over 2 lakh 4 thousand 292 units amounting to Rs 98 lakhs 8 thousand 440 rupees.

The theft using a remote control was discovered by the flying squad of MSEDCL. In the last 18 months, he had used 2 lakh 4 thousand 292 units of electricity for construction purposes. A case has been filed against him at the Ravet police station under the Indian Electricity Act 2003 section 135, 136, 138. The action was taken under the guidance of deputy director (security and enforcement) Shivaji Indalkar, engineer Anil Kurade and assistant security and enforcement officer Shubhangi Patange.
