In a shocking incident on Porwal Road in Dhanori, a drunk driver collided with a stationary autorickshaw at approximately 12:30 AM, resulting in serious injuries to several passengers and the rickshaw driver, all of whom were promptly hospitalized.
The autorickshaw, which had stopped for ice cream and was carrying the driver along with some family members, was struck from behind by a speeding car. The impact left two individuals, including the rickshaw driver, severely injured. They were quickly taken to a nearby hospital where their condition is reported to be stable and they are receiving ongoing medical care.
This incident has sparked demands from local residents for immediate safety improvements on Porwal Road. Suggestions include the installation of speed breakers and increased nighttime police patrols. Residents highlighted that the area around Dhanori Jakatnaka, especially under the Vimantal police jurisdiction, experiences heavy traffic even during late hours due to numerous all-night food outlets. They also raised concerns about reckless driving and noise pollution from vehicles with modified exhaust systems.
Bystanders and motorists at the scene managed to apprehend the drunk driver responsible for the accident before the police arrived.
