Pune: After more than eight months of disruption, commuters in Mohamadwadi and Undri can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the road near Dorabjee Paradise Bungalow Society has reopened for vehicular movement. The road closure had been a major cause of traffic congestion and daily travel inconvenience for residents in the area.

Pune Pulse in its report published in May 2025 had given a detailed update of the monopole installation work.

The closure was necessitated by critical infrastructure work undertaken jointly by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL). The project involved the installation of a monopole to address issues caused by reduced vertical clearance under a nearby bridge. This had led to recurring problems with extra heavy tension wires posing safety risks.

Speaking to Pune Pulse Avinash Kamthe, deputy engineer, road department, PMC stated that the monopole installation is completed and now cleaning of the road is under progress. The road will be open to the public by today evening.

Pune Pulse was the first to report on the safety hazards created by low-hanging high-tension wires and the hardship caused by the prolonged road closure. It has consistently followed up with civic and power utility officials to push for faster completion of the work.

Now, with the road reopened and monopole work completed, residents are hopeful that traffic flow in the area will return to normal.
