Pune: Mother Arrested For Killing 11-Month-Old Son, Shocking Motive Revealed
Pune, April 7, 2026: In a disturbing incident from Bhamberde village in Shirur taluka of Pune district, a woman has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 11-month-old son and attempting to destroy evidence. The incident has triggered outrage across the region.
The accused, identified as Pooja Ravindra Pawar, reportedly killed her infant son, Yash, and disposed of the body in a nearby well. According to police investigations, the act was premeditated and carried out in a calculated manner.
During questioning, the accused confessed that she wanted to remarry and believed that having a child would be an obstacle. Police officials said the motive left even investigators shocked due to its disturbing nature.
After committing the crime, she allegedly tried to erase evidence by cleaning bloodstains at home. The child’s body was placed in a bag, weighed down with stones, and thrown into a well in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Initially presented as a case of a missing child, the truth emerged after a complaint was filed by the child’s father at Ranjangaon MIDC Police Station. Following sustained interrogation, the accused confessed, and the body was recovered and sent for post-mortem. Police have launched a detailed investigation, while residents have demanded strict punishment in the case.
