Pune: Multiple Vehicles Collide On Warje Bridge On Mumbai Bengaluru Highway
A severe accident occurred on Warje Bridge in Pune this evening, involving a collision between ten vehicles. The crash happened around 7:30 PM in front of Hyderabad Biryani at the Katraj Dehu Road Bypass section of the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but the vehicles involved suffered extensive damage. Eyewitnesses reported that a Tata four-wheeler lost control and rear-ended a Maruti Swift. This initial impact triggered a chain reaction, causing other vehicles to collide as drivers tried to avoid the crash.
Following the accident, there was a significant traffic delay of about 30 minutes before highway and local traffic police arrived at the scene. The Warje Traffic Branch then took over and worked to clear the traffic jam by removing the damaged vehicles.
The Warje Bridge is known for frequent traffic jams and accidents, largely due to its narrowness and the large number of potholes on the highway. These poor road conditions contribute to ongoing congestion and make accidents a common occurrence in this area.
