Chinchwad: The Chinchwad Assembly Constituency by-poll election is all set to take place on February 26, and the Election Commission has taken several measures to ensure a free, fearless, and transparent election. One such measure is the introduction of Sakhi Matadan Kendra, a women-only polling station, for the first time in Thergaon.

The Sakhi Matadan Kendra has been set up at Yashwantrao Chavan Secondary School, and women officers and staff have been appointed to run the polling station. A special structure has been prepared for this center, equipped with all the necessary facilities for the convenience of women voters. The idea behind the Sakhi Matadan Kendra is to empower women and encourage their participation in the democratic process.

Women have often faced various challenges in exercising their right to vote, including safety concerns, social norms, and lack of facilities. The Sakhi Matadan Kendra aims to address these challenges and create a safe and welcoming space for women to cast their votes.

The Election Department hopes that the Sakhi Matadan Kendra will encourage more women to come out and vote and contribute to strengthening our democracy. With this initiative, the department is taking a step forward in creating an inclusive and gender-sensitive electoral process.
